Ti Rakau

This week we are practicing using Ti Rakau in the classroom. We made a great start with it this afternoon. Vinnie and Macy each made their own set at home and brought them to school to use in the classroom. They made them out of old magazines and lots of tape!

Boggle Champs

Congratulations to Caleb, Lucy, Macy and James. They were our Boggle champs from last week and the last week of Term 2. Great work.

Goodbye Luka

Yesterday was Luka's last day at Peninsula Primary School. Room 17 were very sad to say goodbye to him, but we are also very excited for him. He gets to move to a new house and will make lots of new friends at his new school. Good luck Luka.

Teen Numbers

The Squares maths group have been learning about 'teen numbers'. They made these lift the flap books to share their learning with others. Come into the classroom and have a look.

Compound Words

Well done to Lucy, Sophia and Astyn who have been working hard to learn about compound words during reading time. They made these flap books. Mrs Burn was very impressed with what they had made.

Sophia's bird feeder

Sophia has made a bird feeder using the bird seed she took home on Monday. There must be some very happy birds at her house!

Today Lucy brought cupcakes to school so that we could help her celebrate her birthday. Happy Birthday Lucy, they were delicious!

Birthday cupcakes

Astyn had his 6th birthday in the school holiday. He brought cupcakes to school so that we could celebrate with him. Happy birthday Astyn!

100 Days Smarter

Since the first day of Term 1 we have been counting the days until we reached day 100. This has been a great way for us to learn about place value. Day 100 was on Friday 8th July. We had lots of fun celebrating being 100 days smarter. Instead of doing buddy reading we did buddy maths with Room 10. They came to our room with puzzles that they had made for us using numbers to 100. It was lots of fun solving the problems. Then we each decorated a cupcake with vanilla icing and 100s and 1000s. After that all the Juniors went to the hall. Each class had a chance to share how they had dressed up for the day. We found out that 3 children in the Juniors had been at school for all of the 100 days, and were very proud to find out that one was Lucy. No wonder she is so smart! Then it was time for 100 days fitness. We did 100 exercises in sets of 10. Finally we got to share out our cupcakes! There were enough for everyone to have one, including the teachers! They were delicious.
We all had a fabulous 100th day at school, and we are most certainly 100 days smarter!
