Boggle Champs

Congratulations to this weeks boggle champs. What great word work!

Bird Feeders

As a follow on from our social sciences inquiry about improving our school community, we started to think about the birds in our school community. In winter the birds need more food to eat. We got into pairs and designed bird feeders. We wanted to make them out of recycled things. We have been collecting bottles and cartons. Today we made some quick bird feeders using cardboard tubes, smooth peanut butter and wild bird seed. We have put them up in the trees at the back of our classroom.

Glossary

Our fabulous Purple Reading Rockets group have been finding out about the features of non fiction books. One of the things they have been learning about are glossaries. When they were reading the book 'Bikes' they noticed that it didn't have a glossary. They thought that it needed one to make the book easier for other children to understand. So they found the words they thought might be a bit tricky. Then they used a dictionary to find out what those words meant. They also put the words into alphabetical order. After that I typed up the meanings on the computer, and then printed it out. Natalia, Luka, Macy and Elsa then glued them into the back of every Bikes book. There were more than 40 books! Mrs Cronin thought that they had done an amazing job!

Pyjama Day

I was SO sad that I missed Pyjama Day. I love Pyjama Day! Luckily the lovely Mrs Sanderson was able to come in. She had a lovely day with Room 17, and said that everyone had lots of fun. I had asked her to take lots of photos, and she did.
